I finally finished her! If you’ve been following me on Facebook you would’ve seen me being frustrated all week, I think I redrew the underdrawing four times before I was happy with her face and the dragons. Gonna be doing Game of Thrones characters up until the season finale!

Light Grey Art Lab is doing the best show ever this week! It’s called Macro + Micro: A Celebration of the Natural World and so far I’ve seen a bunch of piece pop up across tumblr all week and it’s just going to be so good… For this one I went with owls, big surprise, and I wanted to do a family scene with some cute owlets. This species is the Tawny Owl, it’s a common breed and their night vision is only as good as a human’s, they find their prey mainly through their highly sensitive ears. Their call is somewhat freaky and it has become symbolic of bad luck and death throughout Europe. They mate for life and care for their owlets for about two months, after that they’re mature enough to survive on their own and find their own territory.

I can finally post my Mass Effect 3 piece of Tali which I did for Bioware back in November! I had a limited color palette and it was fun building up this piece with so much texture and mark making. There is a limited run of 250 giclee prints for sale through the Bioware Store for $40 each, I will not be selling them in my shop. I hope you all enjoy it.
Another photo update. I went to NYC yesterday to take a look at the Audubon show they are having at the NY Historical Society. They’re showing all of his original bird drawings in three segments and I spent 4 hours looking at each image in Part 1 with a magnifying glass. Not kidding, they had magnifying glasses for people to use. I also took a bunch of notes on how he did wings, might post my sketches later. I also ran next door to the Museum of Natural History and got a drawing done before it closed. And I got to see the Nick Cave show in Grand Central and bought some great pasties for Easter.
Check out my tattoo flash sheet for Light Grey Art Lab’s temporary tattoo show, Beautiful Forever! This one is really cool, because it’s a print, but you can cut it up and stick it on you and make a temporary tattoo! So if you’re in Minneapolis on March 22nd, go to the opening night! And if you get one of my prints and decide to use it on yourself, send me a picture along with your address and I’ll send you some free 4x6” prints!
Everyone’s sheets are available here!
Here is my Love Bug illustration for HelpInk.org! They’re a great printing company that donates a part of their profits from each print to the charity of you choice. I love how this one came out, and it’s being sold exclusively through their website. The theme I followed was ‘Loving Others’ and for this one I tried to encorporate heart shapes into each insect’s body shapes, textures, and patterns. Prints are available in a variety of sizes as giclees and postcards and are also mounted on bamboo and birch.
Available at Helpink.org
This week I got to participate in a project between Ten Paces And Draw and The Maryland Institute College of Art! 20 artists were paired with 20 students and each swapped sketches based on the theme Hashtags. My partner was Leah Maloney who gave me #TuxedosForNoReason and I gave her #HipsterPets. Check out everyone’s pieces here!
God, I’m on an inking marathon this week. Here’s a peek at something. Follow me on instagram! http://instagram.com/canvasbird
