I recently had an art trade with my friend Theoni. She made a portrait of my bird and in return I drew her one of her favorite animals, a lobster. I believe she perfectly captured the grumpiness of him.

This week’s Ten Paces theme was, “The Best Gift Ever.” My sketch was made by Anna Santaguida and the idea was a ridiculous coincidence since last year I gave my college roommate a fist full of rings for Christmas.

Okay, so totally went random with this week’s Illustration Friday word, Separated. I can’t believe I haven’t done any Harry Potter illustrations yet so here is one! I was thinking about the final battle in the Deathly Hallows when Harry and Voldemort no long have that connection with each other and the Horcruxes are gone. Yep, definitely steered off topic. But I love how this came out.

I’ve been looking for an excuse to draw an armored bear for a while and this week’s Illustration Friday word, Brigade, gave me an excuse! I really liked The Golden Compass and wish they would continue with the movie series. I’m going to play around with some fanart for the rest of the month so be prepared!

This week on Ten Paces and Draw! ‘What I wore today”

I recently joined this really fun community where every week we have  a weekly theme and we make a sketch for it. Then the sketches are redistributed to everyone who participated and artist create final images of someone else’s idea. I love doing this and it’s so much fun seeing how someone reinterprets your idea in a whole new style.

This week I got a sketch by, Madison Zalopany and my finish was done by, Wylie Elise. Beckert

Illustration Friday, Round! I can’t believe how quickly christmas is sneaking up on me. Preparing myself for the holiday season and will hopefully begin decorating the house today. I’ve also been thinking about organizing calendar but most of my pieces are vertical and I have no clue how to lay them out for a horizontal format. Would blank space on both sides look silly?

The Art Order is holding a contest for the scifi classic, John Carter of Mars, in honor of the book’s movie release. Along with this contest they now have a very helpful site called WIP Nation where members helped me with my composition and helped make this piece much more dynamic than I originally had. Here I have John and the Princess mid-battle against a Banth, a multi-limbed space lion with two rows of teeth and a dysfunctional cheshire cat smile. Head over to WIP Nation to see the other enties and check out the newest screenshots of the movie

Super excited for the new Snow White movie after that trailer came out last week, only wish they found a better actress to play the part of Snow White. Also Lime Crime is holding a contest to win a free sample of their new lip gloss. So to enter the contest I came up with this to go with their color, Candy Apple. And I am officially in love with dry brush now.
